Hugh A.M. Shafer, Jr obtained his B.A. from the University of Maryland in 1951, and he received his J.D. with honors and L.L.M. from George Washington University in 1955 and 1957. He is a member of the American College Of Trust and Estate Counsel, American Bar Association, The Northern Virginia Estate Planning Council and the Fairfax Bar Association.

Gayle Shafer Trotter is a 1992 graduate of the University of Virginia where she majored in government. She is a 1995 graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law. After graduation from law school, Ms. Trotter was an associate in the Tax and ERISA Section at Hunton & Williams in its Richmond office. She is a member of the American Bar Association, The Northern Virginia Estate Planning Council, The Fairfax Bar Association, and the Executive Women's Roundtable.
